These teenage chefs just made the news!

In July, we told you about a youth cooking class at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee. I put it on my list of cooking stories I wanted to write!

However, the summertime class was nearing its end, and I was obligated to cover another story in Knoxville on the same night.

So I wondered: Would the Kingsport Times-News be interested in covering this great ministry?

How excited we were when the Times-News said, “Yes”! We sent photographer Ben Smith who took great photos … and reporter Holly Viers wrote this great story.

“We were able to tie in making food with spiritual food that we need in our lives.”

— Instructor Sam Hiester in the Kingsport Times-News

Since then, I’ve seen youth leaders talking on social media about how they might try a cooking class with their youth members next summer. Is this something that could work for your group? Let us know.
