Invitation to the table

I saw this photo on a pastor’s page and had to share it.

Gracianna, age 9, is the daughter of the Rev. Paige Pearson Wimberly, pastor at Newbern United Methodist Church and Mountain View United Methodist Church in Dublin, Virginia.

After Gracianna spent two weeks with her grandparents in Florida, her mother traveled down to pick her up … and found this feast waiting for her:

*Baked salmon with poppy-seed sauce *Carrots, squash, and potato medley *Steamed broccoli *Corn on the cob *Fresh fruit salad with watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, grapes, blueberries, strawberries and pineapple

“Gracianna was so delighted and proud to serve me a fresh homemade meal that she made with her Mimi just for my arrival,” Paige wrote on her Facebook page. “Not only was it thoughtful of her, it was delicious!”

It’s just another example of how the gift of food prepared by our own hands and time together at the table can be the most perfect expressions of love, reminiscent of the One who taught us to love.

Thank you, Gracianna.
